Will customers really download your restaurant's mobile app?

Jul 22, 2020 5:03:09 PM

One of the most frequently asked questions by restaurant owners is, “Will people actually download my mobile app?”

The answer is a resounding YES.

We have been in this business for the past four years and we have done more than 160 mobile apps for our clients and based on actual data, I could confidently say that people actually download mobile apps of their favourite restaurant.

Of course, you can’t expect everyone of your customer to download your app, but if you are successful restaurant, then you should have a good chunk of your customers as your regulars, and trust me they will definitely download your app.

And the other key question is, should you be a specific type of restaurant to be successful on the app business? And the answer is NO.

We have been taken by surprise so many times in the past by how well restaurants perform on their mobile app, and there is no Silver Bullet or a specific criteria that these successful restaurants fit into.

We have high performing restaurants in cities as well as in suburbs, in uptown neighbourhoods as well as in rural Australia, so the key is basically to have some degree of communication with your customers about the fact that you have got a mobile app and, and reach them to download it and order directly with you. Be it social media, print media, in-house posters etc ...

As I always say, a mobile app is your digital asset and every single download adds to the value of it.

One of the most easiest and the modern ways to build your customer database is to get your mobile app on App Store and Google play and let your customers know. It’s just a matter of time before you build a decent download base, to whom you could instantly be in touch with using push notifications.

At the end of the day if you simply depend on Menulog and UberEats for your orders, remember you are just sharecropping and you don’t own your customers any more. It’s time you start standing on your own feet when it comes to your online presence and take control of your customer relationship using a mobile app for your restaurant. Good luck.
